What would you do?

Michael Dorsey is a waiter at a restaurant, but he used to be an actor two years ago. He has not acted since two years ago. Michael Dorsey went to his agent after hearing some news. He wanted to prove to his agent that he can get the role somehow. His agent did not believe him what so ever. What Michael Dorsey did correct was that he did not let anything stop him from getting a role. He dressed up like a woman and he went to the audition. Right before he could fully audition the actor/director told him no, that he was not right for the part.  “…working for the same company for a lifetime are long gone and in some industries having one job for a significant period of time is frowned upon rather than considered an asset.” Michael did not take no for an answer and he stood up for himself. He did not fail to show his disguise, he stayed in costume the whole time. Later on he showed his agent how he got the role and that he was able to achieve his goal in getting the role. “As unattainable as a dream job might sound, with the right amount of forethought and preparation, you can make the move...” What he possibly did wrong was that, instead of telling his female friend, the one who really wanted the role also, he lied to her and did not tell her about him getting the role. Sometimes to achieve your dream job you might need to go above and beyond for something you really want. And that is something that Michael did. To get a big role he had to dress up like a woman and he was able to get the role. “...to conduct a self-exploration and identify possible careers that truly inspire.”

How has Fashion,Creativity and Design changed me

I love everything about fashion. The fact that I could not go to the school I wanted to, I had to choose The Art Institute of LasVegas. FIDM was my first priority but the expenses were a little more than i expected. When I heard that they had a fashion program that changed my whole perspective on this school. I was really hoping that this school at the time had fashion design because that was my whole set mind when it came to a fashion classes or main subject of fashion. When I realized that I was taking the management part of it, I actually was super happy because I was going to learn the management of managing my own company; breaking all things down to target markets to strategies to a successful business. I have learned so much just from coming to school, classes, and participating in fashion things. Fashion, creativity, and design have helped me as a whole and fashion student. Being here at AILV has taught me a lot about myself as a person and student. Fashion itself is why my degree will be outstanding because this school provides the best. According to the design book it states; aims to inspire and empower designers by helping them to develop their personal creativity and use it as a tool to achieve design goals. It also states that creativity is a tool available to anyone who understands its components and teaches students to identify and then seek out or avoid the personal and environmental factors that promote or inhibit their own creativity.

Evaluate the clips "How To Make It In America"

How To Make it in America revolves around the main characters Ben and Cam, who are trying to break into the New York City fashion industry. There is also the cousin Renee, who is a authentic businessman who is trying to make a name for himself with his Jamaican energy drink brand called “Rasta Monsta.” The show's main characters, Ben and Cam, struggle their way to make a name for themselves and want to "Make it in America" with their new up and coming clothing brand called “Crisp.” Constant barriers pop up along the eighth episode of the first season that make it worthwhile when Ben and Cam finally make some dough by making a few hundred t-shirts for a big clothing distributor named Haraki. The difference in How to Make It in America aside from other similar shows, is that the clothing industry is an intriguing front to delve into as a show and supporting characters like Ben rich's wall street friend from high school and Domingo who is played by Kid Cudi. I liked the episodes I watched, and I was able to learn from them. The basis throughout the episodes involved two working class guys who were struggling to clearly make a living for themselves. Ben, had a job at Barneys but he aspired toward a more fulfilling career in designing. Cameron is just an outgoing guy, but he was very much undisciplined, he was Ben’s best friend who has a love for hustling. When the pair decided to start their own line of jeans, the series really starts to take off and they go through a lot. As they went through several obstacles they were able to learn along the way that the industry for getting their brand out there is not as easy as they may have thought it would be.

Final: Tag Line

"If I can't make you beautiful, no one can."

"We tried to make a single tagline work, but had no success"-Davis & Baldwin 67

"With regard to language, different media groups here use different tagline"- Davis & Baldwin 67

Final: Paragraph emphasizing your specialty and your five key talents, weaving in your most important values, passions and skills

Ways to emphasize my specialty would be fashion sketching. Fashion sketching can be easy for some but it can also be hard for others.  For me fashion sketching came easy because of the professor who taught me how to do the sketching. My most important values is understanding styling and what I am doing. If a designer wants something done a specific way then it is my job to make the designer happy and content. My professor was able to break down the steps and show me how to do the sketching an easy way. "It is very rare that successful brands arise out of instinct alone." Davis & Baldwin 193 Sketching is that way you see things in your perspective because others might see it differently but you might see it a different way than others. Fashion sketching consists of paper and something to draw with. An easy way to do some fashion sketching is to get some tracing paper and simply do some tracing for practice. Practice does make perfect. A situation where fashion sketching might be useful for me would be if my designer is thinking of something and needs to have a quick sketch done for them. "Every agency or structure within a company is different and structures tend to reflect how those running the company prioritise the ‘brand’." Davis & Baldwin 195 Photoshop is a big value because it will benefit me in my portfolio because I never know who will be viewing my portfolio. Photoshop helps m to correct simple mistakes and make certain edits.

Final: Statement Of Your Specialty

The statement of my specialty would be fashion sketching. Fashion sketching can be easy for some but it can also be hard for others.  For me fashion sketching came easy because of the professor who taught me how to do the sketching. He was able to break down the steps and show me how to do the sketching an easy way. Sketching comes in hand because my professor told my class that there might be a situation where you might have to sit down where ever you are and visually sketch your appearance and sketching can help you at that time because what if you did not bring a camera. That is a way that fashion sketching can help you. "Some companies will plot their marketing mix on a simple graph to see if it overlaps either with a competitor or, more seriously, with one of their own products." Davis & Baldwin 160 Sketching is that way you see things in your perspective because others might see it differently but you might see it a different way than others. Fashion sketching consists of paper and something to draw with. An easy way to do some fashion sketching is to get some tracing paper and simply do some tracing for practice. "Brand experience is how the audience reacts to a brand at any contact point, and it is the basis of consumer dialogue with the brand." Davis & Baldwin 162Practice does make perfect. A situation where fashion sketching might be useful for me would be if my designer is thinking of something and needs to have a quick sketch done for them.

Final: Top 5 Talents

My top 5 talents are making people laugh in stressful situations, getting a job in the area that I currently live in, being able to keep a job for a long period of time, being able to read and write, I am able to know how to do fashion sketches and use Photoshop. Those talents come in hand because in order to get a good job you need to have certain talents. When it comes to reading, as a stylist you need to know how to read what your head stylist is trying to get at you and sometimes that doesn't need to be visually read but more mentally. "Many businesses are happy to sell known products to people they already do business with, and there are examples of companies who have essentially done this for hundreds of years..." -Davis & Baldwin 127 Fashion sketching can important to me because you never know when you’ll need it, and you might need to sketch something real quick to show to your designer and your designer might interpret your sketch into their collection. Photoshop comes in hand because you never know if one day you might need to edit an image for your designer if it is specifically needed. "Brands like to know what is popular to help them plan their direction." -Davis & Baldwin 128 In Photoshop you need to know how to use certain controls to do certain edits. Certain edits can make images look a certain way. Also certain edits can help to bring out colors in photos. In photos enhancing colors can make clothing appear a certain way, or models looks look a certain way as well.

Final: Talents

My talents are making people laugh in stressful situations, getting a job in the area that I currently live in, being able to keep a job for a long period of time, being able to read and write, I am able to know how to do fashion sketches and use Photoshop, and cooking. Those talents come in hand because in order to get a good job you need to have certain talents. Reading and writing is a must because those are very important. Without knowing how to read or write I would probably not succeed in the Fashion industry. "No product or service launches without development, but this process costs money. In deciding whether to go ahead with a new product some maths is needed..." -Davis & Baldwin 101 When it comes to reading, as a stylist you need to know how to read what your head stylist is trying to get at you and sometimes that does not need to be visually read but more mentally. "We earn more and borrow more than our parents or grandparents ever did. We have high expectations, and demand more choices."- Davis & Baldwin 103 Fashion sketching can important to me because you never know when you’ll need it, and you might need to sketch something real quick to show to your designer and your designer might interpret your sketch into their collection. Photo comes in hand because you never know if one day you might need to edit an image for your designer if it is specifically needed.

Final: Passions

My passions in short are simple mainly money, making people happy, eating food and shopping.  Making money is a passion of mine because in life money is needed for success. I have always love making people happy since I was young so I try to make as many people happy as I can. Eating, well I just love food. Shopping is one of my main passions because when I am shopping there is a lot to look at. "Brand style comes from the core – that is, the values of the brand." -Davis & Baldwin 82 When shopping I look for upcoming trends, current styles, fabrics, and good deals and prices. This all has to do with assistant styling, because as an assistant I make money helping people, I shop for anything that the designer needs, and  sometimes that shopping might include shopping for food.  As a stylist my passion is make sure that the people I assist to have my full attention during every part of the show no matter what.  In the industry I have to take this passion very seriously because when a designer gets too busy, it’s my job to make sure whatever they did not do, I do. My last passion as you can see is being a stylist assistant  it is fun. "Like someone choosing to dress in a particular way, brand style can be a surface appearance or reflect a greater depth." -Davis & Baldwin 82

Final: Core Values

The core values that matter to me are having set goals and finding ways to accomplish them.   My main goal is to make people happy and recognize my ambition towards becoming the best I can be.  So I chose to be an stylist assistant to prove myself and have my goals reached.  As a stylist’s assistant to me matter the most because it means having some big and important responsibilities. As long as I work hard, I am able to figure out ways to make accomplishments. Staying strong and having good confidence is a way to keep me going. "If a company wants to grow in a crowded market or expand without having to launch a new brand, it could acquire one that already exists."  -Davis & Baldwin 51 Networking is a way to find good connections. As an assistant stylist staying organized is another core value of mine, because being organized can help you keep a clear view of what it is that you are trying to accomplish. Having set plans can help you set and meet your goals throughout your journey of accomplishing any major goals. Having my mind set and accomplishing my goals is something that makes me happy because knowing that I am able to accomplish my goals and priorities is something that I can look back at, at the end of the day I know that I was able to do it on my own. "The core brand values may be compromised,... Or the change may create a disconnection in the mind of the audience, giving competitors an opportunity to step in." -Davis & Baldwin 48

Final: Primary "Product"

As a stylist assistant I tend to models and their every need. For example, in hair and makeup I tend to the models head Make Up Artist and their hairstylist.  First I need to find out any measurements, heights, and sizes. For the hair and makeup you would need to know the looks that the designer is looking for. As an assistant I need to tend to their make up and make sure that models are in line for the designer’s show. Being organized at all times is a must. I need to make sure that the models are being directed to the correct areas, having a specific schedule for each model is a way to keep everything organized. It is the emotional cornerstone for both the organisation and the product being sold. Design connects the audience to the brand.” -Davis & Baldwin 8 When it comes to the designer personally, the clothes need to be in line and assigned to the correct model. Making sure that if any model is out of place things can go wrong, so it is a must to make sure the models know what they are doing and where they are going. When it is show time, for that specific designer, it is my job to line up the models and make sure that are dressed properly in the correct outfits that were assigned to them.  Brands and branding have always been hugely influenced by graphic designers. "Brands and branding have always been hugely influenced by graphic designers. The visual interpretation and translation of brands to an audience is a fundamental element of branding” -Davis & Baldwin 8

How to make it America

What’s your superpower? What do you do better than anyone else?

Answer: Ben and Cam’s super power was to have ambition about what they were trying to sell/make as their own product or brand for their jeans. What they do better than anyone is go out and keep trying no matter the outcome was. They always took their ambition to the next level making things work to get their jeans out there on the market.

What do people frequently compliments you on or praise you for?

Answer: What others frequently compliment or praise when it comes to ben and Cam they got compliments on how they never gave up and anyone they went to see what can be done to get there jean line started always either came with something good for them or something bad.

What adjectives do people consistently use to describe youperhaps when they’re introducing you to others?

Answer: When it comes to the best friends Cam and Ben some people may have seen them as a little show ad unorganized because they didn't bring anything to the manufacturing company to even get things started, but that was in the begging of the show. As time progress they got better. Some may classify them as very ambitious because they never gave up and they always came up with plans or some “off the wall” just to make their “under construction line started”.

What energizes or ignites you? What are your true passions?

Answer: What energizes or ignites they boys are the fact that they know with a little more help; guides, they can make their jean collection legit and even worth being on the market for people to buy. Ben and Cam's true passion is jeans (their brand to be). I know they will be a success.

Advertising for LinkedIn

Using LinkedIn when it comes to marketing and advertising is a very good aspect to promote who you are and what you do in the professional business. Me personally I love this social media option and glad it has come into the marketing industry because it is like a digital resume. LinkedIn is not just some ordinary social media website because it is for professional people trying to get “LinkedIn” with other business people. Someone who is into arts for example music, graphic designing, or even designing would use LinkedIn to promote his or hers talent. Just like any social media website, they are not always safe but the person can control what goes on within their social media lines. LinkedIn is very professional therefore, only business people add you, but the problem with that is you do not know who is adding you. In class my FRM teacher Frank Pinto says, “One day I asked a guy that goes to AILV did he have a business card and he said yes but he asked for his LinkedIn.” I had wondered why he said that or why he said, “I do not add students unless they are graduates.” According to LinkedIn their LinkedIn Advertising Plan Outline is:

*       A LinkedIn account to use LinkedIn advertising. While you don’t need a completed profile or company page if you are linking to your website in your ad, having both are good for your overall online presence.

*       A definition of your ideal customer for ad targeting purposes.

*       A landing page customized for the product or service you are advertising targeted to your ideal customer.

*       An idea of how you want your ad to look by researching other ads on LinkedIn.

*       Strong headlines, descriptions, and images for your LinkedIn ad variations.

*       Time to review your ad variations to only use the ones with the best conversion rates.

*       Time to measure your results to determine if LinkedIn ads are right for your business.
